Internet Brands, which did an IPO in November of 2007, acquired nine new websites. Eight are online auto enthusiast communities and one is a community site for dog lovers. The sites include the following auto related site: 6SpeedOnline.com, Rennlist.com, G35Driver.com, MyG37.com, My350z.com, ZDriver.com, NorthAmericanMotoring.com andScoobyNet.com.

Internet Brands also acquired PuppyDogWeb.com. The site is one of the largest content providers for dog lovers and includes listings from thousands of private dog breeders across the United States. 

The newly acquired sites contributed to increasing the companys monthly unique visitors to 29.1 million and monthly page views to 435 million in January 2008. This compares to 26.8 million unique visitors and 343 million page views in December of 2007.

Nickelodeon/ MTV Networks has acquired Babunga, a network of niche websites that reach out to the parenting crowd. Babunga includes BabyNamesWorld.com, 3DPregnancy.com, WikiParenting.com, and PetNamesWorld.com. MTVN already had ParentsConnect, which is a community that the network launched in 2006.

SheKnows.com,  an online destination for women, announced the acquisition of RealityTVMagazine.com, a leading web property covering reality TV programming since June 2003. SheKnows is currently one of the top 10 properties for women and attracts over 5.5 million unique visitors with nearly 50 million page views each month. SheKnows is part of AtomicOnline, a diversified online media company.

Internet Brands, Inc., an operator of media and e-commerce websites, announced the acquisition of HuntingNet.com, OffShoreOnly.com, and Horsetopia.com, three popular community websites in the online hunting, performance boating, and equestrian niches. The sites join well-known online community destinations including Wikitravel.org, FlyerTalk.com, and BikeForums.com as part of Internet Brands’ Travel & Leisure division.

HuntingNet.com is the largest hunting community on the Internet. Founded in 1995, the site consists of more than 10,000 pages of content including daily hunting news updates, original articles, field journals, and photo galleries. With more than 45,000 registered users, OffShoreOnly.com has grown to be the world’s largest performance boating website since 2001. Since launching in 2002, Horsetopia.com has revolutionized the way people buy and sell horses. Horsetopia.com is Internet Brands’ second equestrian-focused website, joining EquineHits.com, a classified ad site for buying and selling horses that was acquired by Internet Brands in 2007.

It was announced that Liberty Media, which was once known as an investor in media companies, has acquired a controlling stake in Bodybuilding.com for $100 Million. Bodybuilding.com which was founded in 1999, offers general fitness articles and social networking  and also sells fitness supplements, clothing and supplies.

Bodybuilding.com received around 3 million unique visitors in November 2007 with sales growing at more than 60% a year and expecting to top $100 million in 2008.

On Friday January 4, 2007, Monster.com, the announced the purchase of Affinity Labs which operates industry specific websites providing online communities for social and professional networking, job searching, information and resources for $61 million. Some of the sites in Affinite Labs portfolio include PoliceLink.com, NursingLink.com,  FireLink.com, and TechCommunity.com.
