MTV Networks Acquires Babunga

Nickelodeon/ MTV Networks has acquired Babunga, a network of niche websites that reach out to the parenting crowd. Babunga includes BabyNamesWorld.com, 3DPregnancy.com, WikiParenting.com, and PetNamesWorld.com. MTVN already had ParentsConnect, which is a community that the network launched in 2006.

SheKnows Acquires RealityTVMagazine

SheKnows.com,  an online destination for women, announced the acquisition of RealityTVMagazine.com, a leading web property covering reality TV programming since June 2003. SheKnows is currently one of the top 10 properties for women and attracts over 5.5 million unique visitors with nearly 50 million page views each month. SheKnows is part of AtomicOnline, a diversified online media company.

Internet Brands Buys Niche Websites

Internet Brands, Inc., an operator of media and e-commerce websites, announced the acquisition of HuntingNet.com, OffShoreOnly.com, and Horsetopia.com, three popular community websites in the online hunting, performance boating, and equestrian niches. Liberty Media Acquires Stake in Bodybuilding.com

It was announced that Liberty Media, which was once known as an investor in media companies, has acquired a controlling stake in Bodybuilding.com for $100 Million. Bodybuilding.com which was founded in 1999, offers general fitness articles and social networking  and also sells fitness supplements, clothing and supplies. Monster.com Acquires Affinity Labs

On Friday January 4, 2007, Monster.com, the announced the purchase of Affinity Labs which operates industry specific websites providing online communities for social and professional networking, job searching, information and resources for $61 million. Some of the sites in Affinite Labs portfolio include PoliceLink.com, NursingLink.com,  FireLink.com, and TechCommunity.com.
